xserver problem

when i do mplayer .... it shows me this:
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

i searched some forum and find some idea which says i should do xhost + as normal user, however, when i do xhost + as normal user, it still says
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

I believe before i had this problem i changed my computer name to be sth esle ( superman) in network setting. i added superman in /etc/hosts
localhost.localdomain localhost superman

but it didn't solved the problem.
i am running Fedora core 2

thanks
