xine-ui8.rpm install cannot find libxine1

I have Fedora Core 4 (2.6.11 kernel).

I'm trying to install xine, so I've downloaded what I think are all the RPMs I need, put them in into /temp, and started opening them. Got four dependancy errors, downloaded and installed the appropriate RPMs, and now I'm "supposedly" down to one thing: installing xine-ui*.rpm.

WINE is within my grasp, right? Wrong. xine-ui*.rpm cannot find libxine1.

I do a file search and find files of libxine1 in the /usr/share/locale folder, but I can't install xine-ui and I can't point it to any of the libxine1 files.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Moxieman99

Try to install using yum or you can use another xine frontend

That machine isn't hooked up to the internet. Any suggestions as to another front end?

try
http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/

gxine has a browser plugin and looks better than xine. I have them all gxine, mplayer, and xine. All working very well. Also get the essesials codecs from the mplayer site.

As jilo_dandog suggest, in the page where xine lib is offically release, you can find plenty of front end.
But I personally encourage you use mplayer.
Mplayer have a better UI than xineui, and it support much more output drier, give it a try
