xgl + compiz + x1650 not performing as fast

Dear all

I am using xgl + compiz latest version in my pc.

Details as follows:

Processor: Athlon 1.4GHz
Memory: DDR1 1.5Gb
VGA: AX1650 Pro 256Mb DDR2 AGP8x
Motherboard: ABitKD7
HDD: 120Gb

OS: Fedora Core 5
Kernel v: 2.6.20-1.2316.fc5
Driver: fglrx

The xgl effects runs relatively slow on my pc. I would grade my VGA card as a medium grade card. Are there anyway for me to "tune" my pc so that i can run xgl more smoothly?

For further details on how i setup the card, kindly please refer to this thread:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=558727

Thanks.
