Xdtv problems in recordings

Hi, I got xdtv working with debian ethc and pinnacle pctv stereo. Everything is working fine but in my recordings there are no sound. Mplayer says that there is mp3 sound but I have a feeling that xdtv doesn't know where to record. How do I fix this thing? And if someone can give little advice with video quality too I would be thankful. I noticed that video quality is not the best now. One more thing, I noticed that there's a little problem with quality of picture. The problem is like someone is flashing a ligh in tv, in one moment picture is darker and in other it gets brighter and back to "normal" again. With tvtime this doesn't happen so is it just xdtv or something else?
