X + radeon RV100 QY (radeon 7000/ve)

I have gone to the end of all my resources trying to run X on this card. ATI does not offer it's own driver on linux for this card. How do I get it running. I have Dell PowerEdge 1800 server with Debian on it. I even tried to download from X.org but could not compile the sources. It just failed on some font header with all the default settings for linux. All I need is for this card to get to any graphical mode. Just to get it running. I tried fglrc driver, radeon driver, vesa, vga and any other that I could see in any XF86Config sample. What is going on?

Not card's problem

I bet it wasn't card's problem causing X not to start up. Maybe core keyboard unconfigured as was my case one time ago? No error output pointing to this reason, however.

I have this ATI card 3 years now and never had a single problem running X on it. Currently I'm into configuring dual head setup with it and by some posts on Internet, it should work just fine.
BTW: VESA driver should work on any post year 2000 video card under X Window resp. X resp. Xorg. Keep trying, and when stuck, post also relevant output.
