wrong resolution for insprion 1100/suse 9.1

i'm trying out suse 9.1 on my insprion 1100. i have the recent a30 bios. when i boot up to suse, it's only a 800x600 screen and hardware tool prompts me to 'your monitor didn't report it's x and y size"...'do u want to configure ur monitor geometry manually'. this is a 15" xga laptop screen. it worked perfectly in mandrake 10. thanks.

I am having this problem as well, with the same hardware/distro. I have manually told it I have both a VESA-compliant 1024x768x60Hz and a Dell Laptop 1024x768x60Hz monitor, but still get this every time on bootup.
