Hi:
Suppose I have 7.5GB file a I want to create two DVDs with it as simple data. Can I do this? And how do I retrieve the file afterwards? Thanks for reading.

You can use split and then cat to join them together again afterwards.

I'm sure you could do it with dd too. I guess you just need to use skip= and count= etc.

I've found http://www.crazytrain.com/dd.html which gave me some idea of how to proceed. Thanks for you kind posts. Now, could the speed of the following command be improved, maybe using ibs=?:

dd if=/dev/hda3 count=1000000 skip=1000000 of=/dev/case10img2

I'm greatly interested in knowing so, any charitative soul?

Enrique.
