here is the error i get when i type ./tools/wineinstall from the main directory:

I would post config.log - but it's huge...I will if ya need it - but how do I fix this?

It looks like you need to install some developer tools. If your using Gnome go to the applications menu and select System Settings then Add/Remove Applications. From there you can install the Development Tools.
