Wine fonts ARGH!

Hello I installed wine onto my Centos install. Now wine works I can install windows programs but I can't see any dialouge in the boxes.I've installed fontforge and ariel fonts and wine install looks good just no fonts hmm. This is the case not only for the windows program boxes but wine tools as well.

This is on Centos 4.4 kernel 2.6.9-42.02.ELsmp and wine 0.9.20-1.el4.I tried the usual google and faqs with no luck except seeing some who have had this problem before without finding a clear resolution.

Anybody have any ideas?
