win connection dialup equivalent on Linux?

ok ... i very new to Linux and trying to move from windows ... so i was looking for similar tools, but couldn't find anything which will enable me to make different dialup a/c connections to which i can connect via my modems ... how and where is such a program located ?

on kde, there's an app called kppp though i've never used it.
