EDIT: Latest version in the repos as of now is 3.18.8. Big deal.
I built it from a stock kernel.

No big deal with it. The last distribution update did provide 3.18.8, but several people are reporting that it forces an fsck where it shouldn't. This should not be a kernel issue, but a systemd issue as it didn't happen with ealier releases, and doesn't happen with me testing 4.0, but like I said, I built the 4.0 before 3.18.8 was released.

Yeah...I think I'll pass on that for now. I'll get the final version in a dnf update. From there I'll try Portal 2 and see if there is any noticeable performance increase from kernel 3.18.

I was wrong! The touchpad on my laptop now seems to work a lot better -- with horizontal and vertical scrolling and the ability to have it switch off when typing. All of which mean that things are generally better behaved.
I only installed 4.0 because there seems to be an issue with the 3.19 kernel in Debian at the moment meaning that the kernel source can't be installed, which I need for VirtualBox. I'm using the same makefile as Debian so I'm pretty sure it is the new kernel and not options which have enabled this. I did need to install the 3.18 kernel to get the touchpad working at all so that also suggests it's a kernel thing.
