Have you tried this with Ubuntu 12:04? Do you have wpasupplicant installed? It's very hard to help you if you don't tell us what steps you took to solve your problem.
Here is
another link for a solution with a more recent version of Ubuntu (14.04). If you do a search on the Ubuntu forums I'm sure you will find a solution if this one doesn't work
