Why does AutoFs show ext2?

I'm not using ext2 at all, but in my messages it shows autofs using ext2:

2011-01-03T06:00:30.796057-06:00 localhost automount[2948]: mount(ext2): mounted /dev/primary_backup type ext3 on /mnt/primary_backup

Why is this?

My guess is that it is in fact mounted as ext3.
Quote:
mounted /dev/primary_backup type ext3 on /mnt/primary_backup
cat /etc/mtab should confirm this. ext3 is basically ext2 + journalling

Yes, I'm aware that ext3 is ext2 with journaling. I did verify that in fact ext3 is mounted and being used. I'm simply asking why the autofs is showing ext2 in syslog.
