I've been hearing that white box linux is an alternative to redhat's enterprise server. I want to learn how to work with a linux server in the enterprise, but I'm using a dial-up connection. What I'm wondering is if anybody has downloaded white box, could I make a deal with them to acquire white box on cds. I'm new to linux, and have redhat 9, which I've learned to use as a desktop. I want to set up a workstation on another pc(I dual and triple boot 3 pcs for a network lab), and learn how to use linux in a network, both as a linux network, and as a combined linux microsoft network. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Back again. I just wondered, since I still get confused on which kernel to use with which cpu, do I use the i386 ( since White box linux only seems to come in i386) with an intel cpu, but I can't use it with an athlon cpu? I have a celeron 600 I can use it with, but I also have an athlon xp1600. So I figure I can use it with the celeron, but not the athlon. Am I coreect in this assumption? Thanks. I hate asking a question I should know, but I can't find info on this, although I did once with a google search.

I think the distributions use the notation i386 to mean software that is completely PC generic. It will work on any CPU but will not take advantage of the advanced features available on your Celeron or Athlon.
