where stores kde its settings?

Hi all,

I set up a mandrake 9.2 box today and tried updating a lot of packages. Something went wrong and corrupted KDE-Data: All users lost all K-Menu entries.

I began searching for files, that store suc information and found nothing in the home-folders. Does KDE use a central database for user settings? Something like the windows registry e.g.?

KDE stores it's settings in the folder /home/User/.kde/share*. Since you have Mandrake Linux 9.2 there should also be a subfolder named "applnk-mdk"** which contains the entries for kmenu. The reason you couldn't find it was because in linux, all folders/files with a dot preceeding the name are hidden from view by default.

*User represents your username.
**It should have a star image for the folder icon.

Thankx, T-P-S!

I found the folders but don't understand much...
Some, not all *folders* are there, and not one file... If I have Spiele/Kolf (german KDE) in my K-Menu, where can I find a file with the information about this K-menu entry?
