where is php.ini?

i'm installing a stats program for a game......it requires some changes in php.ini but i can't find it. i searched the entire hard drive AS ROOT and all it came up with was php.ini-dist, php.ini-recommended and a straight forward php.ini BUT those are all in a folder in the SOURCE.

it doesn't read info from the source code so where exactly is my php.ini?

In PHP manual it's about php.ini-dist ... When moving it to /usr/local/lib make sure you have /usr/local/lib in your /etc/ld.so.conf

/usr/local/apache/bin/apachectl restart
if apache resides under /usr/local/apache
