Post Where can I find instructions for installing Google Earth on Ubuntu 16.10 Desktop amd64.

Where can I find instructions for installing Google Earth on Ubuntu 16.10 Desktop amd64.

So far I have tried to install it on an Intel board with a Nvidia 860 video card and a Samsung 850 SSD. Nothing happens. It says it's installed but there is no icon to use or any indication it was actually installed.

Did you try putting "installing Google earth on Ubuntu 16.10 desktop" into Google?? First hit:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GoogleEarth

...the instructions from Ubuntu on doing exactly that. Which it seems like you've done, since you're saying it's installed. You don't say what desktop environment you're using, or where you looked for the icon, but it should be in your applications list. Click the dashboard (if you're using it), then type in Google Earth.
