Where are the log files of named?

Dear friends,

I am struggling to get named to work. it doesn't provide any error files. Anyone know where are the log files of named? there is nothing related to named in /var/log...

I just need to read any error messages that can lead me to pinpoint the problem that may have caused my failure to bring up the named.
thanks for taking time helping!

Regards
Fong

Any named logs should end up in

/var/log/messages

If you open a second root terminal and enter

Code:
# tail -f /var/log/messages
You can read the output in real time as named starts

To escape use CTRL + C

To make it more legible (and only get stuff you want to see at
that time)

tail -f /var/log/messages | grep named

If you DON'T want to read in real-time :)
grep named /var/log/message | less

Cheers,
Tink
