What tool to use to send MIDI events?

Hi

I need a tool to send MIDI events, instrument changes in particular. I'd prefer a GUI that shows me what instruments (and other stuff if possible) I can change. I would then connect it to TiMidity using QJackCtl if it doesn't connect itself.

Any help apreciated.

Below some background information:

When I change the instrument on my keyboard, strange things happen (this seems to be a driver issue in the snd-usb-audio kernel module). "note press events" (or what they are called...) are sent to my computer (those I play and the moment I change an instrument or do "InitSend", a lot of terrible notes are played). Some "release events" are missing, which produces a horrible sound.

The MIDI->USB convertor I use to catch my play on my keyboard is identified with "1a86:752d" (no description) by the lsusb tool. I tried it on windows a bit, where it seemed to work OK.

UPDATE: I just found VMPK, which is exactly what I need. I had to do "apt-get source" etc., but now I'm happy.
