the link won't work

I did how it showed me in the link but apt-get only finds
Code:
wm@theenemy:~$ apt-cache search alsa-
alsa-base - ALSA driver configuration files
alsa-headers - transitional dummy package that can be safely removed
alsa-source - ALSA driver sources
alsa-utils - ALSA utilities
libasound2-dev - ALSA library development files
gnome-alsamixer - ALSA sound mixer for GNOME
alsa-oss - ALSA wrapper for OSS applications
libasound2-doc - ALSA library developer documentation
libasound2 - ALSA library
gstreamer0.8-alsa - ALSA plugin for GStreamer
xmms - Versatile X audio player that looks like Winamp

oh man your going around in circles
see the thing is
2.6 kernel already has alsa
jack is already installed
from the lsmod you provided
the alsa driver for your card is already loaded and fully functional
just like i suspect it was with the 2.4 kernel as well

so when you say only oss is working you are wrong about that
alsa has an oss emulation layer which is what you are seeing

you are done !
you actually acompished your task twice.

now just need to learn to use/understand the software
