What's a good screen recorder?

What's a good screen recorder?

The 2 I tried in the Ubuntu software center don't work well - they only recorded audio...

As with your other threads:
  • You don't bother telling us what you tried (which two, exactly?)
  • What you mean by "don't work well"
  • What you're trying to do
And, as is typical, you've asked this same thing before under your other user ID's that you (for some reason) keep creating.

Simple screen recorder works well.
There are others, but I have not tried them.

It's been a long time since I used it, but I found recordmydesktop to work quite nicely.

Just a couple days ago I used my laptop with vlc to capture a live video at a Christmas party and recorded it with simple screen recorder. The result was excellent.

kazam for simple usage; obs for fancy stuff. Make sure you're in an X session (not wayland) for things to work right.

Well I have a feeling he forgot, since he asked again. Maybe he's like my 90 year old grampa, he sometimes forgets five minutes ago, not to mention months ago. Or maybe he has a learning disability. I mean why else would he keep asking the same question, right? Especially for something that one could just as easily web search. So be considerate!

No, don't think that's the case...multiple user ID's, at least two of which have been banned previously. No clue as to why, but have ideas.

I use Gnome on Debian en there is a screencapture build in hidden on the "prt sc" button. On my HP laptop this is Fn+Right shift.
Then an app screen capture opens. It is able to take a print screen and video. I do not know what the name of this app is. Isn't such a tool build in kde too? What desktop do you use?

Simple Screen Recorder - I installed it.

However, when I record a screen, the video ends up as a black video and only my cursor can be seen moving around.

Am I not selecting the right settings prior to recording(s) ?

Addendum: I installed and tried Kazam also. I get the same black screen as a video. Hmmm ???

Since nothing you're doing seems to work for you, but does for everyone else, chances are good you're not using it correctly. See (again) the other posts you've made under your other ID's asking the exact same question. Or try any of the other software that has been suggested to you numerous times.

If all that fails, you can try actually reading the instructions of the software you want to use, and see if that helps.
