VNCserver and SOUND

I have just discovered something strange. When I log in remotely using vncserver, the sound from my remote session is playing on the host. Why is this? I just assumed that sound was disabled for a remote X session, but apparently not. Is there a way to get the audio along with video remotely? Or do I need to somehow disable sound when I run the vncserver?
Here's the system info:
on the host-
SuSE 8.2 with KDE 3.1 running vncserver

and on the computer i'm using to log in remotely:
Win2K Pro using Ultr@VNC viewer

Thanks for the help,
Kris
