VNC viewers: unexpected problem.

I installed VNC in fedora 6 via yum.
The server seems to be working fine.
service vncserver start, no errors.
I opened port 5801, no problem.

Now, I want to connect via Windows Vista or XP.
I have downloaded:
RealVNC
TightVNC
UltraVNC

With the 3 I can connect but ...

With RealVNC:
After it gets connected, the window goes to the tray and nothing happens.

With TightVNC:
It shows Status: Connection Stablished.
And nothing happens. (The password prompt neve comes).

With UltraVNC:
After connection, it keeps loading:
Negotiate Protocol Version...

Fianlly I tried a web based sofware:
http://www.s-code.com/products/viewe...vncviewer.aspx

And also I failed.

The thing is that I can connect to thr server, indeed. But nothing happens.

Any IDEA ??

Note: I have disabled Norton Security. I have tried from PC without Norton, nor firewall of any kind.

So it's not a Linux - Software forum question, right? This should be in /General.

What do the serverside logs say?
What user account do you use?
Did you configure VNC access and view-only passwords?

Hi, I've gone a little further, now I can get into the server, but:
When the session starts, I only get this:

an all gray background in the VNC Window with three selection boxes:

X Accept clipboard from viewers
X Send clipboard to viewers
X Send primary selection to viewers

This is the log when I run the server:
Sat Sep 29 14:37:10 2007
vncext: VNC extension running!
vncext: Listening for VNC connections on port 5901
vncext: Listening for HTTP connections on port 5801

/root/.vnc/xstartup: line 11: xterm: command not found
/root/.vnc/xstartup: line 12: twm: command not found

What is wrong, How can I fix this?

Thanks.

SELinux may be the culprit

I had exactly the same error message. It was driving me crazy until I realized that SELinux was set to Enforcing mode with evidently no rule to allow vncserver. I set SELinux to Permissive, then rebooted and it worked perfectly.
