View the config file for X. /etc/xorg.conf if you have xorg or /etc/XF86Config (sp?) if you have XFree86. You'll see something like this within:
/usr/share/X11/fonts/misc/
/usr/share/X11/fonts/75dpi/:unscaled
/usr/share/X11/fonts/100dpi/:unscaled
/usr/share/X11/fonts/Type1/
/usr/share/X11/fonts/Speedo/
/usr/share/X11/fonts/75dpi/
/usr/share/X11/fonts/100dpi/
/usr/share/X11/fonts/freefont/
/usr/share/X11/fonts/sharefont/
...
Edit VNC's configuration file, I'm sure it is /etc/vnc.conf browse around, do a search on fontpath, hell, read the comments and look for a similar area for font paths. Add the same paths to the VNC conf file, I'm pretty sure they are held in a comma delimited string in the script.
