vmware; shutdown X; knoppix

Hi,

I am running vmware workstation (v 4.5.1.7568) on a Windows XP Pro box; inside VMware I have knoppix installed (used knx-hdinstall to install it on the virtual HD). When I shut down X-windows (knoppix), two consoles are displayed next to each other; they are both unreadable b/c the font is so small. It's like the ocnsole is shrunk to half the screen and then mirrored - when I type any commands they are entered in both consoles.
Has anyone had this experience with VMware?

I've googled my rear-end off, but cannot seem to find anything.

Thanks!
