VMware help needed

Hi,
errr... I've downloaded and installed vmware in hope of booting my linux in windows. I configured it as good as i can. so i started the virtual machine but as it want to boot my lilo linux loader from floppy there were only many strange AAAAAA's on my display. Is it possible that vmware doesn't support lilo from floppy? what should i do now?
Thanks, pacman.

why do you want to have a boot loader in vmware? just install the system that you want in the folder that it makes and then run it. if your trying to make other linux systems in there i wouldn't. just make a new vmfolder and put the other distro in it.

This seems to be related to a default setting in the LILO configuration file under Linux box. the following steps should enable you to use your virtual machine.

1. Boot directly to the Linux Box installation. Take the following steps from a console as root.

2. Use your favorite text editor to open /etc/lilo.conf

3. Find the line that reads
linear

4. Comment it out. Change it to read
# linear

5. Save the file and close your text editor.

6. Run LILO to apply the changes.
lilo

You should now be able to run your guest operating system.

hope works ..

Waiting....

boot = /dev/fd0
change-rules
reset
default = linux
lba32
menu-scheme = Wg:kw:Wg:Wg
message = /boot/message
prompt
read-only
timeout = 80

image = /boot/vmlinuz
label = linux
append = "hdd=ide-scsi hddlun=0 splash=silent"
initrd = /boot/initrd
root = /dev/hda3
vga = 0x31a

other = /dev/hda1
label = windows

image = /boot/vmlinuz.shipped
label = failsafe
append = "ide=nodma apm=off acpi=off vga=normal nosmp noapic maxcpus=0 3"
initrd = /boot/initrd.shipped
root = /dev/hda3
vga = 0x31a
