So it works for one level of splitter now. I attempted to upgrade vb, but that didn't go so well, so I reverted, possibly everything, and now it does seem to work. I don't know if I reverted the extension pack or not, and that could be making it work. However, the VM has to be set to USB 3.0, and it has to be started to get the state. There are only 2 physical USB ports on the machine, so I can't plug the other splitter directly in. One must be taken up by a docking station. This is how it is at home, I'll see how it must be at my office setup, maybe wednesday. I wouldn't really dare to plug the docking station indirectly into the laptop. That could be a bit weird, under ANY OS. That leaves one USB port left. I got most of the wiring right for sure, as I know I want my floppy and zip drive plugged into that, and I believe they are. The CD is detected another way. Since I can't do splitter in splitter, no USB flash drives, I guess. But I might be able to treat them as hard drives, when I want to boot from them. Would that work? When I want to boot:
1. Create the physical USB
2. Take an image of it
3. Boot from the image, attatched as hard drive
Would that work? If I get shared drives to work, then that should be enough working.
And then, late breaking news, before I post:
I just got everything to work. I had to add under storage a USB controller, and that seems to be the magic where EVERYTHING works!
Now it seems to also be working with my way of adding to the group (mapping to an AD group). I just had to add a USB controller to one machine, and now every machine seems to just work. Although, I might want to get in the habbit, where neccessary of adding USB controllers when "needed".
