I was previously using VB 1.5.7 on my Slack 10.1 system (with custom 2.6.21.5 kernel, among other library & package upgrades). Today I downloaded VB 2.1 and successfully installed it, but ran into problems running it.

Initially I encountered a problem with libcap- which was not previously installed on my system. I added the Slackware package for Slackware 12.1 and verified the file existed (/lib/libcap.so.2)- still had a problem so I added a symlink from /opt/VirtualBox (which is itself symlink to /opt/VirtualBox-2.1.0) called libcap.so.1 to /lib/libcap.so.2. Not graceful, but it seemed to 'work'. If there is a better solution, please advise me.

Then I ran into my main problem:

VirtualBox: xcb_xlib.c:41: xcb_xlib_lock: Assertion '!c->xlib.lock' failed.

I don't imagine this has to do with my libcap symlink, above, but I can't seem to find much info about it- specifically as it relates to VirtualBox. Any ideas what might be causing this error?

Find what versions of the library that VB needs to run, and use that version. If you try a newer version, it may break some things while some other things may work fine. Also check any other dependencies for VB and use the correct versions.
