tried to install required headers but nothing seems to happen.

You need the kernel headers for your current running kernel installed. You didn't say what distro. Here is a link for a setup in Ubuntu.

To find out what kernel you are running, open a konsole, run the command 'sudo uname -a' without the quotes. You will get a line, the current kernel will be listed, just after your system hostname.
You should be able to find the kernel header package in the repos for your distro. Make sure the package you install matches the kernel. Then the setup will work.
