Veracrypt: lock file has incorrect permissions

When I open Veracrypt I get this warning message "veracrypt lock file ********* has incorrect permissions - it seems others have this problem yet there seems to be no solution. As re-installing Veracrypt does not correct this problem it is worrying.
Does this mean my user account is insecure? As I am encrypting confidential information I would like it to work correctly and wonder if there is any other encryption software for folders/directories?
Thanks for any suggestions.

I may have found a solution. In my user account I deleted the hidden file : "/home/user-account/.VeraCrypt-lock-user-account" and the problem went away. However there is no replacement file so I don't know if the file was essential or not.
Again any advice really appreciated.
