Unhappy ut2003 requires hard reboot. .everytime.

I have my OpenGL and 3D acceleration working, tuxracer, alephone, flightgear etc. work fine. I recently re-installed SuSE 8.2 and I'm using the 4496 driver from nvidia as the later ones simply do not work on SuSE. The installation went well. My hardware is fully capable of running the game, months ago i could run the game on max visual settings. I have a GF 4 Ti 4600. When I load the game the splash screen comes up and the nvidia logo appears and it freezes right there and wont respond to anything except the power button I edited the .ini file to start up in a window so I could maybe get some read out from the terminal but nothing. ..it simply freezes. So I really cant get any idea of whats going wrong. I'm not running anything in the background. And I've tried running lighter GUI's than KDE to save resources. .same result. I'm posting my xf86config file though I'm fairly sure everything is as it should be. I'll post any other info that may be useful upon request.

Also I think it maybe trying to use the sdl rendering device instead of the opengl rendering device. I have the latest version of sdl so would this be a problem? If so how can i switch to use the opengl device?
