Using up2date-gnome vs. command line

Hi Guys,
I am sort of new to Linux. I have two questions.
1. I was wondering if it is a good idea to update everything that is listed in up2date-gnome.
2. Is there any difference between updating the kernel from the command line , and using
up2date-gnome. If there is, which one should I use to update the kernel?

I'd go with up2date-gnome since you have it but it really doesn't matter. Personally, I update packages as often as possible especially if their is a vulnerability found in a certain package.

I'm assuming this is a new install of RedHat or Fedora. My usual steps after completing an install is to get all the updates possible. But thats just me of course. Newer is better in my book.

I prefer apt with synaptic. But it shouldn't matter. Just go with what is easiest for you.
