Using my home Internet connection as an ISP for a remote location
I spend some time in a remote location from which I'd like to get Internet access. I'm not there enough to justify paying for a dial-up ISP (and there are no options for high speed Internet). I don't need anything high speed, just something that would allow me to occasionally check email or surf the net.
Unfortunately, this place is pretty rural, and as such I don't have the option of hopping down to a local coffee shop to get free wifi. I've also thought maybe I could use my cell phone as a modem, but cell service is almost non-existent.
So, I was wondering about the possibility of leaving an old Linux with a modem box at the remote location, and being able to dial up to the Linux box at my home residence (which has access to high speed Internet access), and use the Internet access from my home to surf the net.
I guess in essence I want to treat my home Linux machine like an ISP. Does anyone know of any solutions for Linux that could help me out? Not that it matters, but I run CentOS.
Thanks!
