usb to serial listener?

Is there such a thing? A usb/serial listener.

My pc card refuses to work with any of the known config. It shows to dial and waits with no "connect" till time out.

I use a keyspan usb to serial on XP for datalogging automotive applications and that has a port listener for debugging serial connections. I was just thinking if I could see the feedback I could maybe get the is thing to work.

I've been asking for pointers in the /distro/fedora section here thinking it was just a config error but I'm convinced its a conflict in the hardware/drivers.

Not sure I completely understand your question, so I will rephrase it; tell me if I have it right. You have a usb<->serial dongle, and you want to know what software can be used to access it under Linux?

What have you tried? My first guess would be that there is some sort of emulation of a serial port and that software such as minicom or (my preference) C-kermit may be able to use it. These are pretty much the standard serial terminal emulators used in Linux, that I know of.
