Iam using RHEL5.3.. Can I know what are the packages to be installed to write to CD/DVD? I have a CD/DVD burner in there and I want to write to the CD/DVD.

There are several to choose from.

I have always used K3b, you can look at xcdroast, imgburn or even Nero for linux. Nero is pay ware.

It depends on what image/file you want to write and whether you are doing it from a desktop enviroment or a shell. If you have the defait desktop for centos you probably want to install brasero which should burn just about anything to a cd.

You probably want to be a bit more explanatory in your thread titles in future too; people are unlikely to respond to a thread simply called "urgent"-it won't be to them!

Its an oracle database x3850 M2 ibm system. There were certain error logs pertaining to CD/DVD. So I just want to write something into the CD so that the error logs may be seen. I want to do this from shell prompt. Can you please suggest me the packages to be installed and the commands as I am new to the RHEL 5.3?

You could use cdrecord. As root do yum install cdrecord and man cdrecord to see how tto use it,
