I always get confused and clueless when it comes to building my own config file. Can't I use the old config, because when I installed 10.1 everything works fine but as soon as I update my kernel things goes wrong. I am a newbie, so could you please explain or perhaps give me step by step instructions?

thanks

hi there

if u have a 2.6 kernel working fine for u
in the kernel source run

make xconfig

load the working config file
then compile that kernel and use that

if u r usnig a 2.4 config file with "make oldconfig" thern that will cause problems for u

after u have made ur config file then have a look here
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ghlight=Dr+OZZ

towards the steps building ur kernel

regards
