Update manager not working as it should in Debian

I can't check those things. Whenever I try to check any of those three, "main", "contrib" and "non-free", it would simply uncheck it. Also won't let me select italian server. It would automatically select the main one. Source can't be checked at all.

"Other updates" can't be changed. Can't check any from "Install updates from".

Is this some bug or I did something wrong while installing it?

What version are you using? I've had these problems with the testing/unstable versions, but not with stable. I never found the cause and always asumed it was intentional due to the nature of the repositories I was using.

You can enable them by editing /etc/apt/sources.list and add contrib and non0free to the end of the deb line. Then copy that line and paste below it, changing deb to deb-src.

They are enabled on my sources.list, but this still happens and the applet wouldn't notify me when updates are available.

I am currently using Debian 7.0 Testing.
