Any container TrueCrypt makes is portable (the encryption options are common to all OSes that TrueCrypt runs on). All you have to make sure is that the file system you create inside the container is readable in windows.

I.e., don't format the container ext2/ext3 (or ext4 but I don't think TrueCrypt offers that). Use vfat (or fat32 or whatever it calls it).

Sorry, I may have misunderstood you ... do you mean you need to create a TrueCrypt container that is portable between different machines with different operating systems?

Or do you mean a "Portable Mode" installation of TrueCrypt? - As far as I am aware that is for Windows hosts only. Certainly the Tools > Traveller Mode is for windows installations.

Do you require a TrueCrypt USB stick that can be run from a USB without leaving any traces on the linux hosts it runs on? I think this is possibly, but probably only with the command-line version not the GUI. Do you also want to run it on windows hosts? Because that would require a separate windows executable on the memory stick.

If this is what you want, we can investigate further ...
