trouble with thunderbird

when thunderbird is open and i try to open mozilla browser, it does't open. loads, but no window. when mozilla is open, thunderbird opens fine and they both work fine on their own. it's just that mozilla refuses to start when thunderbird is already working. what's wrong?
thunderbird 0.8
mozilla 1.6

Are you clicking on links in Thunderbird and its not opening or what? What happens if you have Thunderbird open and you try to run Mozilla from a terminal to see its output (if any)?
