Tor select fastest nodes

Hello, how's everybody?
Can tor be configured to select servers from a specific area, say a continent or something?
Since I am in Asia, and tor usually appears to select nodes in most notably Germany, my webbrowsing gets so slow it's unusable. Thanks for the help.

That's kinda the whole point of tor, so you can't be tracked. If you were able to specify where you were connecting to e.g. Asia, then if someone was able to get through some of the proxies, then they would find that you were localized to Asia.

Thanks. So there's no way to speed it up really? For example it takes me about 1 1/2 minute just to load this page when using tor.

I think I found what I'm looking for, a program called vidalia. Anybody know if it has proxy support because I can't view any nodes and tor is working? Anyway I fixed it somehow, is there someway I can limit the amount of chains tor wants to make, and also select a server from the network map in Vidalia? Thanks a lot.

TOR and Vidalia Questions.

Hi Chup. There is no way to speed up Tor and Privoxy. I've used it on Windows and Linux both, they're just as slow. The problem is: there are too many people using Tor and Privoxy and not enough "onion routers" to handle all the demand. Until more people set up Tor servers on their computers, the network will still be slow. Vidalia is just a GUI for the commandline Tor. It allows you to see stats, but I'm not sure if it would allow you to do what you want to do as far as controlling the amount of chains and the location of your traffic going. Hope this clears things up a bit.
