Thunderbird downloading all 32000+ emails from yandex server
Using Ubuntu 22.04.
I was having trouble with thunderbird email so I purged it. Created new imap account in Yandex.com. Installed new thunderbird deleted new default profile and restored old profile in profile.ini.
Thunderbird now works BUT it is downloading ALL 32000+ emails stored on Yandex server instead of just new emails. HEEEEEELP.
How do I get thunderbird to just email the last few days new emails?
I looked in Edit-->Account Settings-->[Account] and could find no setting to "download only X days" new mail. However, there is a heading to "Download Headers Only."
Perhaps that may help until the system has caught up with itself.
I am using Seamonkey which essentially is an older Thunderbird as far as email is concerned, and it does have the 'Synchronize the most recent xx days' setting under 'Synchronization and storage'. Though I saw some rants about the things they did to Thunderbird recently...
While I do not use thunderbird, I have to wonder why anyone would decide to keep 32000+ emails on their server. It provides a long history that can be tracked by hackers (and Big Brother) to find out a lot of things I would not want to be blatently available. Yes, I know email history is saved forever by the servers, but anything I can do such as deleting all but the most current emails from my account makes me feel better since now they have to ask the provider to access the archives if they want my info.
