Question Text To Speech

I want to use a text to speech program to have my computer read my english essays back to me (believe me, this helps!!). I have festival, but when I run it, I get this "Follow the yellow brick road" on helium type of voice. You know what I mean, right? ok, well: What can I do to have festival slow it down and lower the pitch? The other problem is it won't read files, only what I type into the term window and put into quotes. Thx

Hi,

as an indirect solution, you may want to try the Java speech API and related applications.

Never tried it (nor have I tried Festival) but it may be worth a look.

cheers
