MEMORANDUM TAGSISTANT: (Google Translate)
tx0@strumentiresistenti.org

At 82 years old and before leaving, I said to myself: I want to sort my accumulated files.
Seeing the possibilities, I chose TAGSISTANT.net because of the favorable comments.

I'm using; LINUX MINT 20.2 Uma Cinnamon

I downloaded the file "tagsistant_0.8.1a-1_14.04-amd64.deb".

By double clicking on the file, I installed it.
Wanting to start it, this screen appears:

arturo @ arturo-N53SN: ~ $ tagistant

*** No mounting points provided ***

Tagsistant (tagfs) v.0.8.1a (codename: Berlin)
Build: 565.20141118.000022 FUSE_USE_VERSION: 26
Semantic File System for Linux kernels
(c) 2006-2014 Tx0 <tx0@strumentiresistenti.org>

Usage:

tagsistant [OPTIONS] [--db = <OPTIONS>] [--repository = <PATH>] / mountpoint
tagsistant [OPTIONS] [--db = <OPTIONS>] [/ repository / path] / mountpoint

I also downloaded the "tagsistant 0,8,1a.tar.gz" file, but while unzipping it with alien, I had several difficulties with missing functions or libraries.

I insist with the TAGSISTANT.net page and download the manual for version 0.8.1, which on page 2 has the assembly instructions.

Obviously, my knowledge is not at that level.

I continued with the TAGSISTANT.net page and discovered a section titled "Hacking" where a script appears to mount the program:

I edit it with GEDIT and save it as MountTagsistant in the Documents folder.
I edit another file like MountTagsistant.py because I have seen some scripts with that extension.

But on some overview pages I read that I had to set write permissions for the script to work.

I have tried several times with chmod, the last one with
sudo chmod u + rwx Documents / MountTagsistant
sudo chmod u + rwx Documents / MountTagsistant.py

with this result:

drwxr-xr-x 3 arturo arturo 4096 Sep 22 09:14.
drwxr-xr-x 23 arturo arturo 4096 Sep 22 08:43 ..
drwxrwxr-x 2 arturo arturo 4096 Sep 19 13:55 'Backup'
-rwxrw-r-- 1 arturo arturo 255 Sep 22 09:13 MountTagsistant
-rwxrw-r-- 1 arturo arturo 255 Sep 22 09:14 MountTagsistant.py
root @ arturo-N53SN: / home / arturo / Documents #

But when I start the scripts, with ./name of the file I get this screen:

arturo @ arturo-N53SN: ~ $ cd Documents
arturo @ arturo-N53SN: ~ / Documents $ ./MontarTagsistant
File "./MontarTagsistant", line 7
opts = sys.argv [2]
^
SyntaxError: invalid character in identifier
arturo @ arturo-N53SN: ~ / Documents $ ./MontarTagsistant.py
File "./MontarTagsistant.py", line 7
opts = sys.argv [2]
^
Syntax error: invalid character in identifier
arturo @ arturo-N53SN: ~ / Documents $

If you can point me to a lower level mount instruction than manual, or maybe tell me how I can correct the two errors while running the script, I will be extremely grateful.

Cheers

Looks like it installed sucessfully, despite the downloaded package being for older Ubuntu system (14.04) than what you have (Linux Mint based on Ubuntu 20.04). What's your problem?

From their website:
Quote:
Mount Tagsistant
Just tell Tagsistant the name of the directory you want to use, for example myfiles/ in your home. This directory is now a special place with custom rules that help you mange your files.
Code:
$ tagsistant ~/myfiles
$

Thumbs up Tagsistant

(Google Translate)
Hi shruggy and just thanks for the help.
I chose to mount it in the "Documents" directory and couldn't get it to work. When I followed your instructions and used $ tagsistant ~ / myfiles, the icon appeared on the desktop and by clicking on it, the folder menu to use the program was displayed.
Now I just have to study the manual thoroughly to get the best possible result.
Thank you again!!! and forever.
