I recently discovered the other week that syslog-ng had crashed and wasn't logging, i followed various instructions on the forums to safely get it back up and running. Everything was fine and dandy once i restart a few services.

But this morning i just realized the problem has come back but not in the same manner, syslog-ng is only logging kernel audit, and the only hint that something is going on is this:

Jan 6 04:44:44 serverx syslogd 1.4.1: restart.
(This was an automatic restart, I did not perform this)

I have searched around for awhile but i am unable to determine if this is an SeLinux issue or just a syslog-ng issue.

Currently running:

Linux serverx.domain.local 2.6.20-1.2320.fc5 #1 SMP Tue Jun 12 18:50:49 EDT 2007 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

forced reinstall by:

rpm -e --justdb --nodeps syslog-ng

then

yum install syslog-ng


Restart all logging services.

still only logging Kernel Audits.
