Since I'm just starting off in Linux, I downloaded SUSE 9.1 personal and installed it. After some basic puttering around I've been unable to switch the default KDE desktop to GNOME. I realize this is quite a basic question, but how would one (assuming he has installed the necessary packages) switch from KDE to GNOME in SUSE 9.1?
Logoff
After logoff you'll be "teleported" to gdm or kdm (desktop managers either of gnome or kde)
Look for button or link called "Session"
In Session choose whatever DE you desire
Ok, I'm sorry to bump this thread, but I tried the advice above and can't seem to locate the "session" tab after I log out. Am I missing packages or something?
switchdesk worked for me.
You have to install the switchdesk package and if you want the switchdesk gui package. Should be under "System Configuration Tools"
