SuSE 9.3 does not boot on HP xw9300 workstation

Greetings!

I experience great troubles trying to run SuSE 9.3 64 bit
on HP workstation xw9300.

The installation completed smoothly, but the kernel hangs at the first
boot after the installation on the following steps:

default mode: immediately, giving just a black screen with two small color lines
safe mode: PCI: Probing PCI hardware (bus 00)
XEN mode: NET: Registered protocol family 16

Reinstallation does not help.

The question is how I can force Linux to run?
I have rummaged through the Web and found several similar cases,
but no adequate solution was proposed. If the problem lays in a
incompatibility between HP xw9300 and Linux SuSE,
does it mean it is a lost case? I had to run SuSE 9.0-9.3 due to the
requirement of a specific software I need.

The system specificaton follows.

Thank in advance for the help.

Sergey Pogodin

Have you gotten an answer to this one at all? I'm also trying to get SUSE Enterprise 9 working on an xw9000. I did get it to come up but it didn't see the network interface. I have the default (on board) interface and also a broadcom net xtreme GB interface. I've even built the drivers for the broadcom but it doesn't see it. I'm figuring that the PCI drivers aren't working perhaps?

any thoughts would be great,
John

Congratulations, it seems you are stuck too... So far I did not get informative answers, if I will know something new I will post it.
About the network problem, I have the following situation. As I said, 9.3 64 bit does not boot at all, but I can install SuSE 9.3 32 bit. (It boots in 3 cases of 5, looks like a display/graphic card problem). My network sometimes works, and sometimes does not. I have integrated Intel 10/100/1000 Ethernet adapter, I configured and started it with #ifconfig eth0 and #ifup eth0, built the routing table with /etc/sysconfig/networking/routes, but sometimes no network is reachable. It is weird but switching off the machine for several hours does help...
Looking on the interrupts table /proc/interrupts, I see that eth0 shares an interrupt 217 with some other service ehci_hcd, may be there the problem lays.
If you do not see the network interface at all, check with #dmesg if it fails to start during reboot?

To close the theme. I have downloaded SuSE OSS 10.0 from www.opensuse.org, installed it - it did work.
Without graphic, however, sax2 freezed. I have run #sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-7676-pkg2.run; #sax2 -m 0=nvidia; set 800x600 with 8 colours (!), generic VESA(I have SyncMaster 730b that is not on the list), then increased it gradually to more acceptable values.
Still my network connection switches on and off as it wishes...

The bottom line is I will not install Linux on my home machine - it just does not worth the troubles.
