SuSE 9.0 and the 2.6.1 kernel
Hi all,
I'm trying to install the 2.6.1 linux kernel on my SuSE 9.0 system. I've taken the following installation steps in the /usr/src/linux-2.6.1 directory:
# make xconfig
# make
# make modules
# make modules_install
# mv arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/bzImage-2.6.0-test4
# mv System.map /boot/System.map-2.6.0-test4
# cd /boot
# ln -s System.map-2.6.0-test4 System.map
I proceeded with modifying /boot/grub/menu.lst so that I'm able to boot up with either the new 2.6.1 kernel or the old 2.4.21-99 kernel.
When I boot up in the 2.6.1 there's a problem loading the modules. When I issue the command:
# generate-modprobe /etc/modprobe.conf I get:
modprobe: QM_MODULES: Function not implemented

I would really appreciate some help with this matter! By the way, my version of the module-init-tools is: module-init-tools 0.9.14-pre2 so that shouldn't cause the problem...
