super user

Hi:
I’m a Suse 10 user. I wanted to ask if there is a way to give super user abilities to a normal user. it’s just that I’m tired of typing the root password every now and then. Also I wanted to ask about the risk of working as root all the time!!! I mean ..look at linspire, or ubuntu, …they aren’t typing passwords every minute, they just enjoy their system. Could some think on making linux’s distos more user friendly?.....I mean I live with my wife, and she doesn’t care to much about linux ( my bad) ….I don’t need a system that it’s prompting me for a password….come on…..this is not an office……so I would like to see something like Suse 10Home Edition….’couse there aren’t administrator living at my house yet!!....maybe I should get one : ).
Thanks for your attention:

Well having to type the pass everytime is a security feature. Also why would an everyday user (say your wife) need to be constantly typing the pass?
I mean, even as a power user. You doing something nasty that needs constant root power? Run the console as su and thats that.

Tip: If you are a KDE user you can always select in the Session menu of the Konsole a New root session or just run
Code:
konsole --type su

You really should not work as root. It is not necessary. Why is Linux not user firendly? Just try Linux out and get along with it. It is a real operating system.

this is not smart at all.........IF you get Hacked and one of your users has Root privies, the Cracker can/will wipe your system clean!! You can't trust the Internet anymore with all the Worms and Trojans out there why take the chance.....

Ubuntu uses sudo, so to run a program with root privaleges you need to do `sudo command` and type your own password in, if you like this approach then you can install and configure sudo on SuSE
