Sun Java Question for OpenSuse 32 or 64 Bit

I'm currently running OpenSuse 11.2 64-bit, and have a question about Sun Java. (Not Open Java -- I know that won't work.) This is a Linux only home system, so booting Windows is not an option at this point. I would like to telecommute, but our company has a Java applet that *MUST* be run in Firefox. It's basically a customized chat room from http://parachat.com/

Currently the chat app locks up when run in OpenSuse 11.2 64bit. It will load, start, then just sit there. The browser itself does not lock up, just the chat app. Sun Java is installed, not Open Java. I've heard that 64 bit OpenSuse has problems with Sun Java, and am wondering if the 32 bit version of the OS will work any better? If not, is there another distro that will allow this to work?

Thanks for any help.

Yes, 32-bit software will run on a 64-bit system. However, since Java is a plug-in, you'll need to downgrade Firefox and other plugins/extensions to 32-bit, as well.

Cheers

Okay, thanks.

I was thinking of just going all the way and switching to the 32-bit version of the OS. The issue with the 64-bit side may not be resolved for some time & its about time for me to clean out the /home directory anyway. It's been through several upgrades and its getting full of all sorts of stuff.
