I would like to install a forum package.
I heard that the "phpBB" is very good.
However, I need to install the mysql.
Is there any good forum package which doesn't need a database?
Thanks.
Your most likely not going to find a forum or at least a decent one that doesn't require a database. Its just logical to use a database for those types of applications, etc. Even the forums that are based on perl use mysql from what I've seen. I'd suggest installing mysql, once you get it going, you can install phpbb with only an ounce of sql usage, but again I'd suggest learning it if your going to run a site that uses it. Not learning it would be like owning and airplane but not knowing how to fly it..
I don't want to install the mysql because I don't want to use it.
Actually, I am willing to learn and I've successfully installed the phpBB before. Sure, it includes the mysql.
My situation is that:
There are only a few person (let say about 50 users) and not more than
100 threads in the forum. The loading is very very light.
I just want to minimize the no. of processes and software in my machine.
What I believe is "simple is perfect".

So, I need to find a "simple" forum package.
Anyway, thanks for your opinion :-)
Well as far as I know, phpbb can use many databases, not just mysql. I would recommend a BBS instead of a forum if you don't want to use mysql or any other database software. Or maybe a mailing list, like mailman, etc.
